Mojo Doing Better!
Well, after a very scary week or so, Mojo is doing better! When I took him down to the Horsham vet on Thursday, she ultrasounded him, and found that his prostate cysts had come back. Only 2 this time rather than 4, but still probably uncomfortable. She drained them, and put him on Orbax (an antibiotic) to clear up the infection. She also was able to see that his adrenal tumor is on the left side, and it's fairly large.
I wasn't able to get the echo, as apparently the doctor who does those is only in on Fridays from 2 - 6. Dr. Edling said his heart murmur still sounds the same though, and that the danger to the ferret isn't so much on the table as after the surgery. For a lot of ferrets, the stress proves too much and they pass a few days after the surgery. It's a scary thought, but if he gets to the point where the medicine isn't working anymore, I'm going to schedule the surgery.

The Ferret Tip of the Day is regarding adrenal disease. Though one of the main symptoms can be hair loss, that's not always present. Ferrets present with different symptoms, so don't think that just because your ferret has a full coat, he or she can't have adrenal. If you think your ferret may be adrenal, see an experienced ferret vet and get the Tennessee Panel done.
